NOVA v0.21.0

What's New

Replay — watch the war so far

  • A new Replay button beside the map (a play triangle) plays your whole game back through the star map: drag the timeline to any moment and watch stars change hands, fleets fly their old routes, and jump gates appear the instant they were built.
  • Pick a pace — the entire war "in 30s" up to "in 5m" — or pause and scrub freely. The close button returns you to the live game.
  • It's your replay: history plays back exactly as you saw it at the time, fog of war and all. It's at its best when a game ends — run the full war in a minute and see how it was won.

Every star tells its story

  • Select any star and its panel now includes a History section — that world's past as you witnessed it: captures, battles, bombs, and probes, each stamped with how long ago it happened.
  • History honours the fog of war: events you had no way to see aren't in it.

The Layers panel — see force strength as weather

  • The new Layers button beside the map paints ship strength as a soft glowing cloud — brightest where forces are strongest, fading with distance, like a weather radar for the war.
  • Switch My ships and Attacking ships clouds on independently, and flip Labels off for the cleanest big-picture view. Ships in flight glow too, so you can watch force flow across the map.
  • The glow is honest: it's scaled against the strongest commander's total force, so splitting a fleet across nearby stars never makes your cloud dim or jump.

A map that's easier to handle

  • Stars, fleet markers, probes, bombs, and gate glyphs now grow as you zoom in — and never shrink below their normal size zoomed out, so the map stays readable at any distance.
  • With a star or fleet selected, the + / - buttons zoom centred on it — tap a star, tap + twice, and you've dived straight onto it.
  • Where objects overlap — a fleet passing over a star — tapping the same spot again now cycles to the next object in the pile instead of selecting the same one.

Try NOVA sharpened

  • Your practice opponent now actually fights back: the Sentinel moves ships every cycle instead of sitting still.
  • The tutorial counter now counts the steps you've completed, not the step you're on.

Quality of war

  • Several production cycles in a row now collapse into a single news line instead of stacking up in your feed.
  • Spy-probe and nova-bomb targeting previews now refuse an out-of-range shot up front, exactly the way the game itself would.
  • Creating a game that can't be created now tells you why instead of silently doing nothing, and the game-length button in the new-game wizard works properly again.
